How it works

A clear process, from first message to next step

You do not need legal terminology, a case reference or a formal complaint to get started. You only need to tell us what happened.

How it works

A simple, four-step way to make sense of your situation

  1. 01

    Tell Us What Happened

Explain the situation in your own words. No legal terminology is required.

  2. 02

    Understand the Information

We help explain relevant publicly available information, rules, rights and procedures in plain English.

  3. 03

    Understand Your Options

We help you understand the possible routes or next steps available to you.

  4. 04

    Decide Your Next Step

Where appropriate, we can signpost you towards an appropriately regulated professional or relevant official service.

What to expect around your session

Before your session

You send a short description of your situation, along with any correspondence or documents you would like explained. We confirm whether an information and guidance session is likely to help.

During your session

We work through the publicly available information that appears relevant, explain any terminology or correspondence in plain English, and set out the routes that may be open to you.

After your session

You receive a written summary of what was discussed, including links to the official sources used and any organisations or regulated professionals we have signposted you towards.

We do not determine the correct legal action for you, and we do not act on your behalf. Our role is to help you understand the information and options so that you can decide what to do.

Why this service?

Sometimes you don't need a solicitor yet. You need clarity first.

The internet contains an enormous amount of legal and rights information. Very little of it is written for the person actually living through the situation.

This is a human, personalised information and rights-guidance service. It does not replace Citizens Advice, and it does not replace a solicitor. It is another option for people who want focused, one-to-one help understanding the information relevant to their situation.

What people usually struggle with

  • Which information is relevant to your situation
  • What the terminology actually means
  • Which procedure applies to you
  • What information or evidence you need
  • What your possible next steps are

Our scope

Being clear about what this service is

Legara Rights is not a law firm and is not a firm of solicitors. Knowing exactly where our help begins and ends helps you decide whether we are the right starting point.

We can help you

  • Understand publicly available legal information
  • Understand general rights and procedures
  • Understand official correspondence
  • Identify relevant information and sources
  • Understand terminology
  • Understand possible procedural routes
  • Prepare questions for a regulated professional
  • Find appropriate official or regulated sources of further assistance

We do not

  • Provide legal advice
  • Give formal legal opinions
  • Act as your solicitor
  • Represent you
  • Conduct litigation
  • Represent you in court or tribunals
  • Provide regulated immigration advice unless separately authorised
  • Guarantee an entitlement, claim or outcome

If your situation needs legal advice, a formal opinion or representation, we will say so and encourage you to approach an appropriately authorised professional or a relevant official service.

Not sure where to start? Tell us what happened.

Describe your situation in your own words. We will let you know whether an information and guidance session would help, or whether you would be better served by an appropriately authorised professional or official service.
